Jazz, blues, punk rock, local favorites and famous national bands—Minneapolis live music clubs have it all. Many of the Minneapolis venues are small and almost have a garage-show feel, while others are huge and host some of the hottest acts around. Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis' Warehouse District has seen a huge number of notable musicians, including The Pixies and Alanis Morissette. Another favorite music venue among Twin Cities locals is First Avenue, which has seen BB King, Wu-Tang Clan, Weezer and seemingly countless others. This venue on the West Bank is small, so anywhere you happen to be standing or sitting will provide a great view of the stage. Whether or not music is playing, drinks flow all night making for a lively and fun crowd. The musical acts vary at Cabooze and include country, blues, rock, funk and reggae. Those who have a hankering for stiff drinks and live tunes while in the Twin Cities area should be sure to check out Cabooze.

Located in Minneapolis, this premier steakhouse and jazz club draws patrons from all over the Twin Cities. Fine Line Music Cafe

Located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis' Warehouse District, the Fine Line Music Cafe has been bringing the best live music to the Twin Cities since its opening in 1987. Notable acts who have played the Fine Line Music Cafe include The Pixies, Ben Harper, Alanis Morissette and The Neville Brothers. This Minneapolis music venue has limited seating that can be reserved for $50 on top of the ticket price, which becomes a food and drink credit at the show. Fine Line was remodeled in the 90s, adding to the appeal of the already pleasing interior. Watching live music in Minneapolis is awesome at the Fine Line Music Cafe.

First Avenue

Housed in Minneapolis' historic Northland-Greyhound Bus Depot that was constructed back in 1937, the First Avenue became a music venue in 1970 and has hosted throngs of incredible musicians since. BB King, Detroit, James Brown, Weezer, Nine Inch Nails and the Wu-Tang Clan are just a few of the artists that First Avenue has hosted. The venue still remains true to the Minneapolis locals though, and hosts a weekly New Band Night. First Avenue is the best place in the Twin Cities to see both local music and the hottest bands out today.

Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant

Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant is split into two rooms, the jazz club and the main dining room. Patrons of the restaurant side will hear the sounds of some of the best jazz in Minneapolis drifting into the dining room over dinner. Dakota has a newly renovated menu, complete with everything from appetizers to innovative and delicious entrees. Accompanying the menu is an impressive wine list with around 20 available by the glass. Several premium cocktails and unique draught microbrews are also available to help make an evening at Minneapolis' Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant even better.

There's really nothing bad anyone can say about the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis. It features the best up-and-coming bands, delicious food and a huge selection of beer in the bottle and on tap. The menu has one of the largest vegan and vegetarian sections of any bar in the Twin Cities. Triple Rock Social Club is a favorite bar and eatery of Minneapolis locals even when bands aren't performing. Famous Dave's BBQ & Blues

Whether you're seeking mouthwatering ribs or some of the best blues performances around, Famous Dave's BBQ & Blues is the place to go. Live bands grace the stage almost every night of the week, serving up saucy notes alongside stiff drinks and entertaining everyone who ever loved good music. The highlight here, and the thing that makes Famous Dave's so "famous," is the food. The legendary St. Louis-style spareribs are hickory smoked and smothered in Dave's Rich & Sassy sauce; these babies are so good that they have earned over 300 awards. There are also more than enough soups and salads to choose from, and a variety of non-red meat standards on the menu, like the Sweetwater Catfish Fingers and the Hickory Smoked Chicken Sandwich.

For a bar that doesn't serve alcohol, Club 3 Degrees is surprisingly packed most of the time and keeps the crowds happy with the biggest selection of smoothies and sodas that anyone has ever seen. Live Christian rock bands belt out various roaring notes of praise on a regular basis, and are supported by a sound system that's top notch. All ages of folks frequent this place to kick it Jesus-style with live music, pool tables and fellowship themes; there's even a Sunday morning service for people who aren't into the standard church setting.

Clubhouse Jaeger

This swanky, sexy hangout caters to just about every boozer out there by offering two of the greatest things in life: music and liquor. The interior design of Clubhouse Jaeger is decidedly unique, boasting British pub-style architecture, a disco ball and random palm trees; as odd as this all may sound, the ambiance here is surprisingly addictive. Fridays are great for free live music, and every other night there is a DJ pumping out random beats of all genres.
